Chongli (Zhangjiakou, Hebei) is the densest ski cluster near Beijing. Pick one base — switching resorts mid-trip costs shuttle time. Yunding Snow Park (Genting Secret Garden Chongli for many international readers) is on the Ikon Pass for winter 26/27. Season: roughly mid-November into March for much of Chongli; some resorts open earlier or close later in a given year. Pass prices are often higher on weekends and public holidays — confirm weekday vs weekend rates on resort channels (we do not list exact CNY fares here).
How to choose
Yunding (Genting Secret Garden)
Choose when some riders want Olympic-style terrain and others need clear beginner zones — start early on busy dates. On Ikon for 26/27: Pass 7 days / Base 5 days / Session no access (per destination). Confirm on ikonpass.com.
Thaiwoo or Fulong
Thaiwoo if you want a self-contained village. Fulong if you prefer town lodging, night skiing, or snow play with young kids.
Ikon Pass at Yunding
For winter 26/27, Yunding Snow Park is the Chongli resort on Ikon. Days are per destination. Verified 2026-10-31 — re-check ikonpass.com for your pass year.

Getting there from Beijing
- HSR: Beijing North or Qinghe → Taizicheng (often about 1–1.5 hours). Then resort shuttle, taxi, or hotel transfer.
- Lodging tip: Stay near the resort you will ski. Taizicheng-area lodging is convenient for Yunding (Genting) / Thaiwoo; Chongli town pairs better with Fulong.
- Day trip? Possible for a taste only — you lose half a day to transit. Two nights is a more realistic minimum for lessons + practice.
- Bus / PEK: Some travelers use airport-area coaches; schedules change — confirm the week you travel.

Beijing-area day trips (optional)
Nanshan and other suburban hills can work for a short first experience without leaving the capital’s orbit. Expect crowded weekends; English may be limited. Less vertical / variety than Chongli — confirm open status with the resort the week you travel.
